Weinman, this vision of Liberty was created during what many consider to be a golden age of American coin design. The nation was redesigning all of its major circulation coins in the early 20th century, and Walking Liberty was one of the leading designs. Walking Liberty remains one of the most popular coin designs to this day for American coinage. Introduced in 1916 on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, it replaced the Barber Coinage bust of Liberty that had featured on the 50-cent piece from 1892 to 1915. As of 1986, the design has featured on the US Mint’s official silver bullion coin. The American Silver Eagle boasts this same beautiful design on its bullion, proof, and burnished options.
On the obverse of 1 oz SilverTowne Walking Liberty Copper Rounds is a depiction of Walking Liberty. She is featured in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. The sun rises over the mountain peak in the distance with its rays reaching out toward the sky. “Liberty” is engraved along the top half of the design rocker and “In God We Trust” is featured behind her trailing leg.
The reverse of SilverTowne Walking Liberty Copper Rounds includes a common design SilverTowne uses on its series of copper rounds. This includes an American bald eagle with its wings flexed out to great lengths with “USA” engraved in front of the bird under two lines. There is a singular star on this side.
