The portrait presents the King without a crown, following the traditional style used on British circulating and bullion coinage.
The reverse of the 2026 1 oz Gold Britannia and Liberty Coin showcases Britannia and Liberty standing together in a design that combines the enduring national emblems of both countries. Britannia appears with her trident, while Liberty carries her torch, reflecting their longstanding symbolic roles. Although Britannia’s image faded from use after the Roman withdrawal from Britain, she returned during the reign of Elizabeth I as the nation expanded its influence at sea. Liberty, meanwhile, became an enduring representation of American freedom, democratic ideals, and opportunity, especially for generations of immigrants who first encountered her image upon arriving at Ellis Island.
