The American Palladium Eagle is the latest entry in the American Eagle Series. The Palladium Eagle was first issued in 2017 and offers a unique approach among the coins in this series. Palladium Eagles are, generally speaking, issued in one version each year, with a three-year rotation between BU, proof, and reverse proof. Each 2025-W 1 oz Reverse Proof American Palladium Eagle Coin comes with a capsule and is housed in a blue US Mint presentation box. The box is housed in a Palladium Eagle-themed shipper and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. This specimen is a reverse-proof coin with mirrored devices and a frosted background field.
Palladium Eagles have been issued as BU, proof, and reverse proof specimens in varying years. BU Palladium Eagles have been issued in 2017, 2020, 2021, and most recently in 2023. Proof Palladium Eagles were issued in 2018, 2021, and 2024. This 2025 Reverse Proof Palladium Eagle marks the third such issue of this version, following the 2019 and 2022 issues. The only year with two issues was 2021, when BU and proof versions were sold.
The obverse of 2025-W Reverse Proof American Palladium Eagles comes with a depiction of Winged Liberty. Created in 1916, Weinman’s Liberty features a youthful female profile wearing a winged cap symbolizing freedom of thought, though the wings led many to mistakenly identify the figure as the Roman god Mercury. Weinman’s design represents one of the most beloved and artistically acclaimed coin designs in American numismatic history.
