The American Gold Eagle Series experienced a slump in demand from the end of the Y2K crisis to the start of the Great Recession in 2008. However, the surge in interest for gold coins during the Great Recession was not as evenly distributed as it was during the Y2K scare. The 1 oz gold coin dominated the Great Recession, while the other coins had much lower mintage figures. The 1/10 oz gold coin in 2010 saw increased interest, but it was still well below levels of the past decade.
All of these 2010 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available to you for purchase with individual plastic flips. The mintage of 435,000 coins in 2010 was higher than any date mark from 2001 to 2009, and was the highest the series would see until 2013 when demand for the 1/10 oz Gold Eagles began to surge again.
On the obverse of 2010 American Gold Eagles is a portrait of Liberty. This front-facing relief of Liberty shows her full-length figure in front-facing relief as she walks toward the viewer holding up a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. The U.S. Capitol Building is at her feet, sun rays frame her figure from behind, and a ring of 50 stars encircle the design field.
